Can we dig deep and be grateful and more joyful during the coronavirus?

Be grateful?

What is the alternative?

Here we are, we have arrived. We are in the middle of a world wide pandemic. We may have many thoughts of uncertainty, despair, fear and anxiety. These thoughts are very normal at this time. However, if allowed, they can also become a burden and can bring us to the depths of despair.

So what would it feel like, to acknowledge the enormous challenges we are facing daily with this coronavirus, while also deliberately, trying on for size, the feelings of gratitude?

I know, for me, and for so many of us, we live very busy lives and we get caught up in the activities and jobs we immerse ourselves in. The flip side of the coronavirus is that we have more time and opportunities to learn. To learn what it is like to be grateful for everything that we have right now. To learn to always be in this moment. To learn to be present to ourselves.

The coronavirus pandemic has provided us with the gift of time. We have more time to stop, more time to be alone. There are less distractions, less meeting ups and less running around.

During the early days, in March 2020, it felt unnerving and challenging to think that we may not be able to do many of the things that we enjoy. Slowly as time has progressed, we may have realised that this period of our lives is also a unique opportunity to spend more time at home, connecting with ourselves and with our families.

Intentionally stopping and taking notice of what’s happening in each moment may be the only medicine we have access to right now… and it may also be, quite possibly, the very best medicine we can administer each and every day of our lives.
