Your one Wild and precious life…

Looking at the sunshine glistening brightly on the flowers and listening to the buzzing of the insects and bees collecting nectar, I am jogged into the present moment.

I recall the line from Mary Olivers poem,

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

This line keeps coming to mind, to gently remind me and jog me into this moment.

A voice says, ‘Yes this is my life, this is my one precious life’.

There are no re-runs and no opportunities to retake parts that we don’t like, no way to remove memories or suffering that we’d prefer not to have. This is it.

However perhaps, instead of feeling overwhelmed, see if it’s possible just for the next minute, one whole minute, to close your eyes and drop into the body….

Noticing what’s here now.

Watching like a welcome visitor.

Taking in the landscape of our body….. our breath, the in-breath and the out-breath.

There’s no need to change anything.

See if it’s possible to allow ourselves, to be, just as we are, right now.

Often, we forget that we are the ones in control of our lives……

We are in control of how our day works out. Yes of course events unfold throughout the day but it is our response to these events that create our reality.

I find myself noticing that with each passing day there is an opportunity to reflect, to realise, to rethink how my life has turned out….and more importantly to plan how I want the rest of my life to turn out…
