About

My Approach

We are all human and this being human means we all suffer and have challenges as we navigate our way through our lives.

My aim is to share as many resources and tools with you as I can. My work is grounded in empirical driven research and findings. At the forefront is a series of CBT & Mindfulness & Mindfulness Based Compassion interventions.

About Gemma

The founder of Our Story Mind

I've been involved in the field of mental health since 1997- I began my career as a secondary school teacher and since then I have worked extensively with children, teens, adults and families, in both educational and organisational settings.

I have lectured and I have a Masters of Science in Mindfulness Based Interventions. It is through my clinical work that I have learned the power of sharing proven strategies and tools to support and empower others.

I have completed a diploma in counselling and psychotherapy as well as extensive post graduate training in anxiety, stress and depression and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I have worked as part of multi disciplinary teams to support and empower marginalised families. My work and training has enabled me to work in diverse settings of psychotherapy and mental health services, including teaching, youth work, adult and child coaching, teacher training and group work.

Cork is home and I live there with my family and our adorable dog. Experience has taught me that armed with the right information and strategies we can all move past our imagined limits and achieve many goals that we have dreamt of, while pushing through those self-imposed boundaries that inhibit us.

On a personal note….

Being human, means we all encounter physical, emotional and psychological well-being challenges.Over the years, I have experienced and witnessed family and friends struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, depression and stress.

All of my life experiences have driven my work and my commitment and passion to support and empower others with their mental well- being.

What each of us all share is our desire to be our best selves, and to provide as best we can for those we love and care for. At times this can be difficult and we need solid, research driven therapeutic strategies to conquer and prosper through the tough times.

I have developed the strategies and resources that I’m dedicated to sharing with you. We all deserve to live our best and happiest lives and I am here to tell you that you can and will get through even the the toughest of times.

We all deserve to find peace, and happiness within our own bodies and minds.

 Our Story Mind

This website contains the latest research and findings in psychology, mental health and well being. My desire is to bring these findings to each and everyone who may find them useful. From a young age I have been fascinated by therapies from both the West and East and how their blending and complimentary styles and science can help us to live a more fulfilled and happy life.

Our Story Mind was born from my own realisation of how untamed and colourful my mind and the minds of others really are. Many of us can spend most of our lives believing that the thoughts we have are the only way and as a result we miss out on so many opportunities and adventures.

Taming "Our Story Mind" is a work that brings great benefits and my passion is to share these tools with you.

I am also someone who has faced panic attacks, anxiety and depression myself and have witnessed the effects on those I love and work with.

I’ve worked with hundreds of families and clients to better manage their mental health and wellness. I have developed courses and tools out of all the things that work best and I am excited to share them with you.

I hope this website brings some support and happiness to you.
